Brewin Dolphin garden wins best-in-show at Chelsea
The Brewin Dolphin garden by Cleve West has won gold and best-in-show at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Cleve’s Main Avenue masterpiece highlighted the popularity of topiary, and aimed to showcase its potential use in gardens of all sizes.
TV gardener Joe Swift’s Homebase Teenage Cancer Trust plot – his first Chelsea attempt, won RHS gold, too.
Joe said he “couldn’t have wished for a better result”.
Another of the nine main avenue golds went to TV gardener Chris Beardshaw for his recreation of Furzey Gardens.
Former Home Front presenter Diarmuid Gavin, who won his first Chelsea gold last year, had to make do with silver-gilt for his Westland Magical Garden – an 84ft (26m) towering scaffold pyramid.

Rival show for Chelsea
Rebel gardeners are planning to stage a major alternative to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2012.
The Chelsea Fringe (19 May to 9 June) will be a London-wide festival of flowers, urban gardening, community allotments and parks – timed to coincide with the famous RHS event (22-26 May).
The new festival will see floral boats on the Thames and lorries loaded…
Diarmuid Gavin to build Avatar garden at Chelsea
He is known for pushing the boundaries of garden design and testing the patience of Chelsea Flower Show organiser the Royal Horticultural Society.
So eyebrows were raised when celebrity designer Diarmuid Gavin unveiled plans to make his Chelsea comeback with a garden in a sci-fi style pod, hoisted in the air above the showground, using a crane.
