'Amazing people’ who have remained upbeat in the face of huge challenges or tragedy are to receive a new garden from Alan Titchmarsh.

Makeover series Love Your Garden is due to return to ITV on 23 June 2015, with gardens being revamped for deserving families across the UK.

Former Ground Force presenter Alan will host the eight-part series with garden expert David Domoney and professional gardeners Frances Tophill and Katie Rushworth.

They’ll film a wildlife special, too.

Alan told AG: “We’ve filmed three episodes so far, making gardens for amazing people.

“This year there’s the youngest ever military George Cross winner. And we’re making a garden for a woman who lost her husband. He died aged 39 and they’ve got three children.”

In 2014, Love Your Garden was the highest-rated garden series on TV, drawing up to three million viewers.

Asked why the format had been successful, Alan replied: “I hope it’s good gardening and I hope it’s inspirational.

“I want people to see ideas on TV and think ‘I can do that’. They’re great stories about ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary situations,” Alan explained.

The TV host revealed that he’s also filming a three-part series about Capability Brown for telly channel More4. It’ll be broadcast in 2016.

Capability Brown designed over 170 gardens across the UK, at historic houses and country estates.
