Alan Titchmarsh’s new prime-time ITV series is to be called Love Your Garden.

TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh

Former Ground Force host Alan said he hoped the new show would inspire people to “discover the delights of gardening”.

The 12-part series of 30-minute programmes starts at 8pm on Friday 10 June on ITV1 – half an hour before the 8.30pm slot for Gardeners’ World on BBC2.

Alan said that filming would begin in May: “We are going to be looking at small gardens that are inspirational and show plants that are grown well,” he said.

“I want a programme that will make people go ‘gosh I can do that’. The aim is to show beautiful gardens in different situations.”

Alan said he hoped that Love Your Garden will inspire people to go to garden centres and nurseries at weekends.

ITV has not yet revealed the identity of Alan’s co-presenters, or details about the format. But it is known that Alan will travel the UK, looking for inspirational pots.

Topics to be covered include home-grown produce and gardening to encourage wildlife.

We are trying to enjoy your programme Love your garden but the music is so annoying. Very hard to hear what you are saying. Please let us have one programme without music. Thank you.

I love Alan Titchmarsh and all that he does and was looking forward to this show. All was well until the lady, whose garden was being shown, suddenly said ‘please don’t put this on air but I used all my heating allowance to pay for that plant’ (a single fern). Call me old fashioned but shouldn’t that money be used for what it was given for? And why on earth didn’t they leave her remark out? Am I the only only one who has been offended by it? Probably! Oh well….
