The Blue Peter garden is to open to the public for the first time, now that it has been relocated from London to Manchester.
Now rebuilt at MediaCityUK at Salford Quays, the iconic plot was first designed by garden legend Percy Thrower in 1978.
An Italian sunken garden and fish pond have been moved to a landscaped area known as The Green, along with a bronze statue of Petra, Blue Peter’s first pet.
It was landscaped by Blue Peter gardener Chris Collins and includes the hand, foot and paw prints of presenters and animals who appeared on the show in 1978.
They include Lesley Judd, John Noakes, Simon Groom, Shep the border collie, Goldie the retriever, Jack and Jill the tabbie cats and Freda the tortoise.
Blue Peter editor Tim Levell said: “People from seven to 70 ask about the garden. By placing it in the MediaCityUK piazza, the public can enjoy it and see it first-hand.”
The garden was opened by Princess Anne.
