Fans of cottage garden flowers have voted for their favourite sweet pea.

A poll was carried out at the National Sweet Pea Show, with sweet pea ‘Heaven Scent’ emerging as the winner.

The show, sponsored and run by Mr Fothergill’s, was held at Capel Manor in Enfield.

Sweet pea ‘Heaven Scent’ (pictured) has pale-pink flowers on a cream background. The scented variety was bred by Sydney Harrod and introduced in 2007.

Mr Fothergill’s Tracy Collacott said ‘Heaven Scent’ “shone out on the day”. Last year’s winner was sweet pea ‘Valerie Harrod’.

The firm plans to introduce ‘Heaven Scent’ for 2014/15, priced at £2.45 for 20 seeds. Call  (0845) 371 0518 or visit www.mr-fothergills.co.uk.
