TV gardener Joe Swift is backing the third National Gardens Festival Weekend which takes place on 6-7 June 2015.

Garden designer Joe, who is president of the National Gardens Scheme (NGS), said gardens will throw open gates in aid of good causes.

Around 400 gardens across the UK will open for the weekend, from small urban plots to cottage gardens and country estates.

Joe said: “One of the great things about the NGS is the diversity of its gardens. Big or small, formal or informal, modern or traditional – there’s a garden for all tastes.”

Joe added: “I urge you to stop by a couple of gardens over the weekend.”

The NGS, which runs the Yellow Book scheme, donates around £2.6 million to charity ever year.

Key beneficiaries include Macmillan Cancer Support, Hospice UK and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
