A whopping £20,000 of prizes are up for grabs for gardeners who can show off the highest levels of green-fingered talent.

The Cultivation Street competition is back for the third year, with judges looking for the most inspirational community, street and school gardens across the UK.

Spearheaded by David Domoney, the TV gardener who presents ITV’s Love Your Garden with Alan Titchmarsh, the challenge launched in the Sunday People newspaper.

Two categories are new for 2015: Pollination Street will go to the best wildlife-friendly community gardening project.

Germination Street is an award for newcomers.

The £20,000 worth of prizes will be divided up among category winners and will come as National Garden Gift Vouchers.

Included in this is a top prize of £10,000 for the overall winner.

David Domoney said: “People say our communities are fractured or lost. They say we’re isolated. I believe gardening has the power to bring people together.

“It’s a nurturing, uplifting pastime that forces us to step back from our busy lives and reconnect with nature and with each other.”

The deadline for entries is Sunday 2 August, with winners set to be announced on Sunday 30 August. Go to www.cultivationstreet.co.uk.
