January is nearly gone, and so too are the high street sales. But don’t forget the garden centres. You have just a week left to bag yourself a bargain for the garden.

I’ve picked up some great discounted items at my local centre in the past week or so, and I could have kept on spending. A quality shovel for just £10 as well as gloves, plant labels and pesticides all greatly reduced.

I’m not on the market for garden furniture at the moment but I saw some impressive price reductions on outdoor dining sets and sun loungers.

One of my best buys was a range of quality patio pots all discounted between 25 and 50 per cent. In the height of the gardening season, just when you want to fill your patio with colour the pots can really cut in to your budget.

Money is tight for a lot of people post-Christmas, but if you can justify some spending now, you’ll be saving money across the year.
