This step by step video shows you how to plant a stunning winter hanging basket. First start by placing the hanging basket on some newspaper.

Line the hanging basket with wet newspaper – this will protect the hanging basket from frost. Add to the basket some compost. You can use multipurpose or handing basket compost – these contain crystals that help them retain water.

Once the compost is in start to place your plants. You will need a focal plant either in the middle or at the back. Make sure you pick complimentary colours and make sure they are winter hardy varieties.

Once all the plants are in place fill the gaps with more compost.

Your basket is finished. Place the basket where you wish to display it and then water.
