Seed and young plant supplier Thompson & Morgan is letting customers ‘see before they buy’ after opening a new trial garden for amateur gardeners.
T&M is now welcoming visitors at its Open Garden, based at Jimmy’s Farm in Ipswich.
More than 1,000 “customer favourites” are on show at the garden, says T&M, as well as 2016 launches and experimental varieties that are being tested out for garden performance.
Visitors will be asked to highlight favourite varieties.
T&M’s new product development manager Michael Perry said the firm had been searching for a venue to re-create its open weekends, which used to be popular with gardeners.
Michael said: “Our Ipswich nursery site couldn’t cope with the footfall – 5,000 gardeners all trying to get on-site over two hectic days.
“Opening the garden down the road at Jimmy’s Farm allows the public to view it at their leisure from now until September.”
Go to www.jimmysfarm.com for opening times and directions. Gardening clubs only need to register their intention to visit if they require food or refreshments.
