Celebrity gardener Toby Buckland is to front a new practical gardening series – on the web.
Former BBC Gardeners’ World host Toby will present Adventures in Gardening, which is exclusive to internet telly channel www.After5.TV.
Anyone with a computer, tablet, smartphone or smart TV will be able to access the on-demand series, which comprises 10 episodes, each 25 minutes long.
As the high-definition shows are being filmed exclusively for the channel, viewers will have to buy a season pass (£20) to access the content.
AG columnist Toby said: “Gardening has always offered a large dollop of adventure. I love seeking out new planting ideas and visiting nurseries and have always got a kick out of making use of free things.
“The shows are full of tips and insider tricks explaining how and why I do things.
“The programmes are filmed in the beautiful West Country setting of Powderham Castle [home to Toby’s plant centre/nursery] as well as the estuaries of Devon.
“My aim is to capture the joy of plants and show the skills necessary to become a better gardener in a fun and entertaining way.”
Toby said topics covered will include growing your own food, foraging, tree and rose planting, creating a mini-herb garden and making plant food.
Aimed at novices and experts alike, Adventures in Gardening has been directed by Matthew Richards, whose previous TV credits include Wife Swap and Robson Green’s Extreme Fishing.
Toby’s first episode, Food for Free, is available now. New episodes, such as Right Plant, Right Place, will be released every three weeks.
Programmes will stream live to viewers’ devices on demand.
Go to www.after5.tv/adventures-in-gardening to buy a pass, which includes discounts on some garden products and a chance to win £500 of National Garden Gift Vouchers.
Passes offer unlimited viewing of the episodes.
