Garden chain Wyevale Garden Centres says it expects its sales of real Christmas trees to soar by 11 per cent this festive season.
The retailer, which has over 150 UK garden centres, says its real Christmas tree sales are due to peak on the weekends of 5-6 December and 12-13 December this year .
It is expecting to sell a staggering eight million trees.
A One Poll study found that 52 per cent of customers assess the quality and shape of a Christmas tree before selecting it – compared to other indicators such as price and height.
Research also reveald that 20 per cent of Brits plant to make their Christmas tree the backdrop of their social media posts this year.
Wyevale’s trading director Dan Zinner said: “The scent, style and size of the Christmas tree are all key factors we see our shoppers seeking advice on, with many asking for the biggest tree we have in stock.”
A strong trend emerging is the demand for larger trees. Wyevale reports that sales of its largest sized trees of over 240cm and above are up by 55 per cent.
