Patriotic gardeners will be able to plant a royal rose to celebrate the marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton.
Focus DIY, which has 170 UK stores, will launch the scented, pale-pink Rosa ‘Catherine’ in April.
The limited edition bushy floribunda, which will retail for £9.99, is exclusive to the chain.
It flowers from mid-June until frosts. Sales of the rose will raise funds for the Princess Diana Foundation Trust.
“The rose is a classic British flower, so we couldn’t think of a better way to mark this occasion,” said Focus DIY horticulture controller Gerrard Smith.
“The Royal Wedding promises to be the biggest of the past two decades, so we wanted to offer a fitting tribute to the royal bride and groom that will flourish for years to come.”
The rose will also mark St Catherine’s Day, which falls on 29 April, the day of the Royal Wedding. www.focusdiy.co.uk.
